Hippocrates, who is considered to be the  father of modern medicine encouraged his Ancient Greek patients to eat ice for the well-being.

Did you know that Roman Emperor Nero had ice brought from the mountains?

He liked his ice with fruit toppings. The combination of fruit and ice creates a delicious chilled desserts for the constantly hot weather in Egypt.

In 16th century, the Mughal emperors used relays of horsemen to bring ice from the Hindu Kush to Delhi. His servants used the ice to make tasty  sorbet.

The Persians invented a special chilled food, made of rose water and vermicelli. It was a blend of ice, saffron, fruits, and different flavors.  Royalty loved to have it during the hot summers days.
