Did you you know that fudge is a relatively recent invention?
Fudge is a drier version of fondant ( an icing of sugar syrup and glucose, water and cream of tartar), made by boiling sugar in milk to the soft-ball stage and then beating the mixture while it cools so that it acquires a smooth, creamy texture.
Maybe many of you did not know that fudge is an American invention.Some food historians consider February 14, 1886 for the official date of creation. However the exact origin and inventor are disputed. Many stories claim that the first batch of fudge resulted from an accident. A bungled (“fudged”) batch of caramels was allowed
So today is June 16 and there is another day to celebrate! LOL.
